A sneak peek on Jari & Le-Fix

It only took a day after I posted the sneak peak, for Euroman to see it and repost the series in their own blog and their own words. There was not long before the first hater popped up with his "I know better" -attitude and tried to kill the true story about Jari, saying that it was distasteful to take such a sad person and dress him up and put him on display. Who are you to judge, to call him a sad person? But none the less, it made it more clearer to me how much these "sade persons" often are put to a side and best let to be forgotten.

The story about Jari and Le-fix is very simple, it's about not ignoring, but about carring and take time to make someone feel useful and needed, when others chooses to ignore.

Jari loves to hang out on Guldbergsgade and especially at the shop where The Le-Fix guys always welcome him. It's not often you see people taking their time to listen to "these kind of people", most of us don't even take time to just look at them. Jari has had a tough life, and it is no secret that he likes to have a beer every now and then.

Le-fix is not trying to save the world or make a mockery of Jari, quite the contrary.
Like one of the ignorant haters wrote: It's a shame against those who are actually trying to make a difference. But Mr. Hater, what do you know about Jari, Le-fix and me? And what do you do to make a difference, other than just talk shit about what others are doing and not doing.

Le-fix does not only provide Jari with clothing. They spend time listening to what he has to say, even if it's bullshit. They help him handling letters from the authorities, take him to the social services. They help him financially, and offer him small jobs, so he can work for the money they are giving him. He may not do an awesome job, but at least he is trying! I have nothing but love for the Le-fix crew and the things they are doing. They have truely become a strong brand, with the heart in the right place!

Sneak peek on Le-fix winter/fall lookbook 2012

I've only met Jari a few times. Always just chillin on Guldbergsgade, mumbleling with a finnish accent and a rough voice. I have never really understood the words that came out of his mouth, but I surely enjoyed my meetings with him. He thinks I am from Pakistan!

He knows everybody on Guldbergsgade, and everyone there definetly knows Jari. He is always good for a little chat with the guys at the Le-fix shop, and is also often seen fixed up in Le-Fix gear.

Thats one good looking fin I tell ya:-)

I've tried to take some pics of him a few times before, but he never said yes and told me that he hates to have pictures taken. So how Benny from Le-Fix persueded him to say yes is a mystery for me!? Jari told Benny that he couldn't sleep all night because of the shoot, so he was a bit grumpy when I hooked up with them.

The shoot was on Guldbergsgade, where all Jari's hangout places are. We didn't really plan anything for the shoot so Benny and I just winged it a bit. It just made the pictures look more believable.

Inger Sharff art meets Busty Heart!

Yesterday Inger Sharff opened the door to her art exchibition at MOHS art gallery on Sønder Boulevard 98, vesterbro. With her opening, Inger had invited the world famous Busty Heart, who got famous when she appeared on the american talent show "American got Talent". The purpose of Busty's visit was that she had to smash 5 of Inger's sculptures. I gotta say it was really funny and people did seem to have a blast, not everyday you see a woman smash stuff with her tits;-)

I got hired by Universal to shoot Kesi's album cover early in december and the deadline was set to the 20th dec, but because of the Christmas rush, and Kesi's many concerts, we had to postpone to jan 2012. So today I met up with his boys and the rest of his B.O.C crew and Ooooh boy it's not easy to single handedly take control of a shoot with 9-10 roughnecks!
But nonetheless I had a whole lot fun shooting these young cats:-)

Ending 2011 with a big bang!

2011 has been a year with some struggle and pain, but also with a'lot of awesome'ness!

As the old saying goes, "Good things also comes with bad situations" and I must say that, that quote fit my 2011 perfectly!

A lot happened last year, my girl and I parted ways, I moved into a shitty room on top of a strip club on vesterbro, I crashed on a scooter and smashed my camera and I almost quit photography, but on top of all the negative shit, all the positive things came back in threefold!
I moved into a new place with my good friend and fellow photographer Lasse, I met The DPN and Rezet boys, who all have become my brothers in armes(love you guys). My Mugshot project became bigger than I ever could imagine! My network has gotten rock solid and huge, I've got a lot of good jobs, I have done a ton of charity work that I loved to do, I've made peace with my mind and I love hanging out with my ex:-) but what matters the most in 2011, is without a doubt all the wonderful people, who I've met on my way through all of this. You can't be measured in money or success, you are beyond that, you are truly the most valuable treasure I have in my life!

Happy New year, love and godspeed to you all, you know who you are!

The party

With all the people I have met in 2011, I joined up with the Rezet crew plus extra, in Amsterdam for the last party! We were around 30 people, some knew each other and some didn't. We ate, we drank and we party'ed together all night and I gotta say, this was one of my best new years experienced I have had for a very long time!

I did bring my Canon Eos 5D mk2, but I decided that it was a better idea to leave it back in the apartment. But one of the guys had his LUMIX pocket camera with him, which he trusted me with, so I did get to shoot a bit:-)

Mathias is known to go all in, so I thought it would be fun to capture him every 2nd hour, when I could, so I did:-)

I've always had something for laundromats in a none weird way.
Mostly people just want to get in there and get it done and over with, but for me it's kinda like taking a step back in time. Imagine how many different people with different stories, who has walked in and out of there. It is truly a kind of a time capsule

Many of the laundromats in Copenhagen hasn't be renovated since they first opened. The color on the walls, the posters, the machines and the decorations are still the same and probably more than a decade older than me. I spotted a half torned warning sign that was posted on my birthday in 1991, I was only 8 at the time.

Help Portrait, Copenhagen

I was one of the four photographers, who yesterday particpated in the Help Portrait project in Copenhagen.

The purpose in Help portrait is to give those, who need to ease the bank account, an extra hand with the christmas gifts or just give the experience to be photographed by a professional photographer. It's all about giving during these stressed days in december.

It was about to get dropped this year, because no one had time. So in the last seconds, Tommi and I volunteered for the project and created a small crew of 5 photographers. We only had a month to set it up, so a big thx to the girls, Helena, Kalle & Sanne we wouldn't be able to do this without you guys and of course a big up to Støbberiet(location), Canon, HP for printers and prints material and Module Photo for delivering the studio gear! Another big thx to Vitamin Well and Nørregade candy and all those who was kind enough to donate some money, you know who you are;-)

In only 5 hours we had almost 300 people by and over a hundred portraits divided to 4 photographers and two photobooths:-)

Hopefully next year, we will have bigger locations and more photographers to join up, so we all can make a litte something for someone who needs it!

It wasn't the party/event pics, nor the concerts, musicians, facebook, shooting semi to fully celebrities, that got me into photography. What really started my interest in photography, back in the days(which is 4-5 years ago) was photojournalism. All the mayhem on Nørrebro that winter night in 2007, is what I can thank for making me pick up a camera. There were some obstacles, that stood in my way to pursuit photojournalism. There were someone that I didn't wanted to leave behind in Cph, because the school is in Århus and besides that, I am a terrible writer, I hate exams and tests and etc:-S

I had that dream for awhile, but then my photography business got crazy and it kinda slipped my mind. I haven't been doing photojournalism or coverage,(call it what you want) as much as I wanted, because I simply didn't have the time for it. So when I got this job for a Yoga studio, I thought I shoot it in a more journalism perspective eye. I was really happy with the results, but unfortunately I had to take them down again for some reason, that is "beyond my understanding":-( But at least my taste for photojournalism came back and I felt doing it again. Yes I know, I know, I still need a'lot of practise and learn more about it, so please don't eat me up, because I call it photojournalism;-)

So yesterday I decided to find myself a challenge, and found this bingo place on Østerbro, which is open everyday with more than 200 players.
I made a quick phonecall, got my green light and got my ass out to Østerbro.

I did these pictures a few days ago. There isn't any purpose with this shoot at all, other than I teamed up with my good friend Kajsa, who did all the styling. I just got a album cover deal, with Universal Records in the house. I'm shooting Kesi's first album cover. I did his single cover a few month ago, which was only sold on Itunes. His single went 1st place on the very same day, that it was published!

But besides that, I was also asked to do some new press photos of him and his guys, who is with him performing, when he is doing concerts around the country. All the clubs and etc. have been using his single cover as flyer material and what not, and I haven gotten pretty tired of seeing it everywhere, so it is only awesome, that I got to shoot the new ones. So here are the results. The guys haven't seen it yet, so I hope you and they like the results of 20 minutes photoshoot:-)

Toback to the Fromtime - Malk de Koijn

Yesterday I shot a danish rap group Malk de Koijn. As usually we only get to shoot the first three songs, but that was fine with me, just means more time to enjoy the concert and more time to booze up:-) I've been a fan of them since their first album, I practically grew up with their songs. They performed in front of 6000+ people, all jumping from the front row to deep down in the back! It's been long since I have felt so strong a crowd to a danish hiphop concert. Well Done MdK!

One of my most favourite and inspirational photo-journalist, came by my office/studio/shop to participate in my Mugshot project. His name is Jacob Holdt and is mostly known for his American pictures , which has been on display all over the world and have also been published as a book with the same title!

It has not only been his work, who has inspired me, but also his personality. The way he connects with people is somehow very amazing and rare. In my world, the connection between you and the objects you're shooting is the most important thing. TRUST!

I feel blessed to have met Jacob Holdt on a more personal level and are very honored that he would be a part of my Mugshot project. One of my most memorial day in my career!

Sleepless in Cph

I have a bit problems sleeping sometimes. So When I can't sleep, I usually just sit in front of the TV, while editing some more pics. The sound of my TV makes me feel, that something is going on around me and not entirely alone. It helps me relax. Sometimes, that isn't enough, sometimes I grab my camera and head out, to see if there is anything to capture. Tonight I did just so. I went near The Central station and shot some pics from the outside. The style is something different than I'm used to. It is always fun to do something new and be experimenting.

I was out last night, so I my head was really blurry when I woke up and it didn't really help, when I opened my eyes and couldn't see shit out the window. I have a huge window in my bedroom and all I could see was... yeah nothing!? It got me out of my bed, but still it was so foggy that I couldn't see more than 5 meters ahead. My camera was at the shop, so at the time I got my ass downtown, most of the fog was already gone. But I did get to shoot a little:-)

Faded tears

Love & sorrow goes hand in hand. We have all been through the gate of pain or we will at one point. Either we lost someone by the hands of death or we lost someone that we love, because things just didn't turned out the way we thought it would. A boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife and etc. It's never easy and the feeling of being abandoned is hard, just like it is harder to fall out of love than to fall into it. Its been exactly a year ago, since I walked through that gate and sometimes I do go back unwillingly. Though it is easier for me now to ignore those feelings and put the past away whenever it decides to drop by. But I'll try not to put them too far away, so I don't forget how it feels. I'll keep it to remind me to be careful and not to get hurt again...

Johnom is one of my very good friends, who has felt the sorrow. He lost his unborn child at the age of 17, but has been blessed with 2 kids and another one on the way. He is one of the most dedicated fathers I've ever met. It's not always easy, but who said it would be. On his 26th birthday, 17th of october this year, he got a seperation, that took a great beating on him. It can be hard to see and relate what he is going through. That's why I asked him to come by the studio, I wanted to capture his state of mind.

Amsterdam & Tribute to my Rezet guys!

Just a few more clicks from me in Amsterdam. I really didn't get that much pictures out of Amsterdam, as I wanted to but...

No doubt that Amsterdam is a very awesome city and if I had the money for it, I would definetly buy a place there! The city is one of the most cosiest and beautiful place I've been to, but Picture wise, it didn't really caught my eye... Maybe because I was too lazy or maybe there was just too much vacation about my trip... None the less, I was there with the best people ever and we had one drunk ass time out of it!

A tribute to my Rezet guys

The clock is turning 3 in the morning and I just came home from Amsterdam... Realising that the boys that I went there with, is some of the best guys out there! Though I only have known them since may this year, I know our friendship will last forever. These guys will be there for each other no matter what and I feel blessed to be among one them. They will stand by your side when you need it, they will help you out without hessitating and they support you a 100% in whatever you do. They always pick up when you call, they will always text you back and they will always watch your back! As lame as it may sound, the code: Bros before hos, comes to its true meaning when it comes to these guys... and I love you guys for that(Not trying to offend any girls! You know we can't live without you;-)

The Dam as in Amsterdam!

So I'm in Amsterdam right now with some of the Rezet buds, doing a bit brand visiting.
I haven't really been taking that many pictures here, we've been more busy going out and get drunk.
The weather here is awesome, sunny and a bit warm... compared to Copenhagen.

Todays schedule is pretty much the same as the other days. Chill, crusing, coffee shops, food, drinks, beers and clubbing!

Today is magarita day and tomorow is Ajax day! We are gonna go to Amsterdam Arena tomorow and see the Ajax game against..... ohmn, I actually don't know who they are up against!? But what the hell, it's my first real football match, so I'm looking forward to that!

I recently just took part in a new sneaker store in Copenhagen called Rezet Store. I started with an office space in the back, but ended up working/helping them out with the marketing part, so now I can also put marketing boss on my Cv. I shoot their campaign posters, show them how to shoot their products, putting events together and etc. I also have a'lot of my pics hanging there. It's nice to have some sort of a schedule now and something to wake up to... But hey, this isn't what this post is about.

It's about other cool people who supports one an another, just because they want to and not because we ask them to!

Joekim is our local hair dude and one of those cool people you always can smile with. A crazy, friendly guy, you can't help doing anything else than to like! He is a good shopper here at Rezet as well and a damn good hair dude to! Whenever I'm in need for a quick cut, before a date or whatever, he can always find time to cut my hair and give me a good laugh! But what really makes him an awesome guy is, that besides his own logo on his shop front facade, is that he has a Rezet sticker smacked right next to his salon's name Oops! It may be a little thing for him, but for us it is a huge thing!

So a little tribute, is the least I can do!

What The Mugshot series has become!

As some of you know, my Mugshot project didn't stop at a 100 portraits. I'm currently at 243 portraits as you can see on my website.

Many have asked me, whats the purpose with my Mugshots. In the beginning I didn't have one, but now I do.

The project has evolved from nothing to much more than I ever imagined.
I've had the pleasure of meeting more than 300 people in a short period of time and skateboard legend Tom Penny also dropped by. I'm also meeting with former model Malkit to arrange for him to bring some of his boys in for a Mugshot. Johanne Schmidt-Nielsen from the party Enhedslisten will also come by one of these days to join the Mugshot collection.

My goal is a 1000 portraits within the end of 2011. When that is reached, the idea is to put all 1000 portraits together so they will form a whole picture. What it's gonna be, you can only wait and see, but the plan is to place it on a big wall somewhere in Copenhagen.

I'm starting to notice some Mugshot copycats pop up here and there, but with a different style. I'm very glad to see that my work actually inspires others... Thank you for that!

UPS meets Danish Design School!

‎Why so serioussshhh!?- is an independent project to raise awareness on those subjects, that we sometimes forget, especially the homeless during the winther.

Our goal with "Why so serioussshh!?" is to do an exhibition/book with portraits of people from all classes, doing grimacing, to raise money for the homeless who need extra care, during the cold danish winther.

Money is not the only option, old clothing, bedsheets, sleepingbags and much more is just as needed!

The money that are raised, will be donated to shelters around Copenhagen, so they can improve their facilities with new beds, madrasses, food, etc.

This is a non-profit project, so everything that can be contributed goes directly to the homeless!

With me on the project is Fixie rider, Johnom Malik Bautista.

The project has been inspired by the french documentary "Women Are Heroes" which has won several prizes.

I was lucky to meet Dj Mehdi back in 2007, it was very briefly, but I remember it like it was yesterday. It was in the beginning of my photography career and the first time ever, that Midweekbrakes was held outside Rust nightclub.

You played with A-Track that night and you blew that place up! I still have all the pictures from that party, even though it's been 4 years ago.
Thanks for some great music and parties, hope you'll keep spinning that shit where ever you are, R.I.P and godspeed!

From pornstar to hobo!

I went to Kolding 6 months ago, to shoot a portrait of this ex-pornstar, who turned his life around, by choosing to live on the streets of Kolding. He was tired of all the commitments, rules, bills, all the shit that we don't like. So he took a step back, sold all his stuff and moved from Copenhagen to Kolding, where he found himself a good spot down at the dock.

I remember him from some tacky porn movies back in the teen years(yeah I do watch porn, now and then;-) and when he had his own tv show.
All of a sudden one day I read in some shitty tabloid newspaper, while taking a dump, that he was now living as a homeless in Kolding!?

The pictures have finally been printed with the interview and can be seen in this month's issue of Husforbi.

I recently did a shoot for two danish artists, Wafande & Kesi. Wafande released a full album today on Itunes and in stores. Kesi release a single on Itunes only, but is waiting for another release on his album, when it is done. There have been a little talk with Universal, that I maybe will be the photographer to shoot Kesi's album cover, but let's see, there is a'lot of things can change.

Kanye West, Tivoli

Kanye West was in town yesterday and did a 6 out 6 performance at Copenhagen Tivoli. I gotta admit, I thought I did see the best concert this year with Janelle Monay, but Kanye proved me different. I was there shooting as always for Rapspot.dk. We were allowed to shoot during the 2nd and 3rd song, were we after was guided out to the service center, where we could put our gear away. The weather was pretty shitty, but that didn't scare the thousands of Kanye West fan away!

Well done Kanye!

The whole concert was shot with my 50mm & 85mm Carl Zeiss 1.4! I wished I had something wider though, but I was in a hurry and to lazy to carry so much shit. It worked fine anyways don't you think?

So the reason I haven't been updating the blog so frequently is because of a project I have been shooting over the last 3 weeks. It just started as an editing experiment, but then evolved into something more than just fun. Over 50 people have been coming by the studio and my last day of shooting is tomorrow. I have no idea how many people I have "shot", but it's many. The shoot is all about you and me, a clean portrait with some hard editing. Only one light source and that's it.

There hasn't been any specific idea behind this project but it has been a huge pleasure to have all these nice people dropping by just for me!

I didn't want any model pose in the pics, I wanted people to give me a stoneface but with a'lot of power to it. Some does smile, but it has worked perfectly together when you see it:-)

I'm gonna reveal all the portraits on my brand new website this Sunday, so keep an eye out;-)

Trailerpark 2011

I'm soooo sorry, that I haven't been up to date lately, but I'm been busy doing whatever from work, to nothing:-)

Last weekend I was working for Artrebels as their main photographer, for their festival, Trailerpark. It was a tough schedule, but I made it through safe and sound;-)

The unknown soldier!

I'ts been awhile since I visited the old Angola war Vet. I shot some pics of him the first time a few months ago in "De Gamles by" Nørrebro, close to a retirement home where he was walking his dog!

The pictures got picked up by some medias and has also won a prize in association with some students from Mediehøjskolen. Their subject was to do a campaign, about not forgetting the elderly and their client was Red Cross. They asked permission to use the picture and I of course said yes!
After that another newspaper got a hint of the pictures and called me up and asked if I would be interested in doing a full portrait of him for a newspaper called Husforbi.
Heck yes, and the issue was on the streets last month! These were the pics!

We also want butter on our bread!

Roskilde Festival 2011, Janelle Monae!

Janelle Monae was without a doubt one of the best concert, that I attended at this years Roskilde Festival!

I truely don't think that my shots can justify the true atmosphere of the concert! But yeah shit happens and with only permission of shooting the first 3 songs, there isn't much to do, but to pull back and enjoy the music 100%!

Thx for now Roskilde, see you next year, with or without the camera!

One of the few bands that I really wanted to see this year, was Odd future. I've been listen to their albums the last few months and especially Tyler The creator's solo album, entitled: Goblin! I knew I wasn't the only one, so I came 2-3 hours earlier, just so I could get into the press-pit!

Cosmopol stage was filled to the edges and beyond, the temperature was lousy moust and hot. People were being carried out every 10 seconds, but all in all, I gotta give these young cats a big thumbs up, especially Tyler for showing up even though he broke his leg a little week ago and for entering the stage in a wheelchair!

The morning after-part 4, Cocio girl!

Some of you may remember this girl from one of my shots from Distortion, where she rocked the Eva Mendez Cocio dress!! Well she got tagged and we hooked up for a shoot, as you can see, she did/looked amazing!

I'm pretty damn sure waking up to someone like this, would be a perfect way to start a day!!

Rune Glifberg 25th anniversary !

Yesterday I dropped by Fælledparken where the danish legendary skateboarder Rune Glifberg, had his 25th year anniversary. This was also the first time I went there after the rebuilding of the park. Gotta say, what a concrete heaven that place is!

The park was filled with people, there was live music and a'lot of give aways... ohhh and yeah, the weather gods thougth that yesterday was the perfect day to take a big piss on us... Thanks a'lot, it's takes more than that to scare us away!

The human body and mind are capable of doing amazing things, one of them must be creating life. To create life with someone you truely love must be the most beautiful thing, you can ever do... and I gotta say Beate is a perfect example of that!

Les Deux "Boys Day Out"

One of the shoots that I did during Distortion was for Les Deux on sunday. I went home from the final party around 06:30 am, I slept for 3 hours and woke up at 09:00 got picked up at 09:30 and driven to Hornbæk. I actually had planned that I wanted sunday off, but then my good friend Virgil Nicholas called me on saturday and said he needed me for a shoot. I warned him, that I was attending The final party, and that I most likely would be bugged by heavy hangovers sunday morning, he just replied and said: Sure sure, you can sleep in the car:-)

Les Deux is a brand with Danish and French roots. Summer 2011 is their third collection. Based on the street culture, the classic environment and simplicity, delivering L2, a unique product to all who understand - "the young-and-grown conscious"
This collection is called "Boys Day Out"

What we did in Barcelona!

Yeah as you know, I was in Barcelona a few weeks ago and as you saw, I didn't really take that many pictures of Barcelona. But again you can't really call what we did for travelling, it was more like a group of apes, set loose to do whatever they felt like.
Instead of taking pictures, I did a'lot of filming and I edited it together. It's by far a masterpiece, I'm still learning the video part but, take a look and have a cheap laugh:-D

Distortion day 2,3 & 4

So Distortion is finally over and boy it has been tough partying and do photo work in the early mornings. As I told you guys earliere, I've been on shoots friday, thursday, saturday and then what I thought was to be my day off, I received another photo gig sunday morning for the danish clothing company, Le Deux.

Adidas lookbook, Behind the scene!

So I didn't really told you the whole truth, when I said I didn't took any jobs during Distortion. Yesterday I was out shooting Adidas lookbook with my Adidas All in allied, the awesome stylist Alexandra Carl! We started at the Adidas office at 08 am, so my hangovers hadn't even poped out yet. With only 4 hours of sleep and banging hangovers, we were done at 17 o'clock. 3 models, 15 styles and 15 locations later I was really tired and hungry, I moved on to Distortion day 3 on Vesterbro, to meet up with my boys from Rezet Store.

I will upload some more Distortion pics, whenever I get the time for it. I'm missing day 2 and 3 and hopefully they wil get uploaded tomorow evening or maybe monday.

Today I've been up early aswell to help a friend out with her Master collection at Danish Design School, so no sleep for me last night either, but tonight I will go all in for the final party, because I got no jobs tomorow, so I will finally be able to sleep more than just 4 hours:-)

Party is hard, but life is great!

So Distortion is about to set whole Copenhagen on fire! Yesterday it was inner Copenhagen, today Distortion will yet again set its mark on Nørrebro!
Some changes have been made for me this year, I have deliberately not asked or accepted any gigs, so I could do and shoot whatever I feel like and upload whenever I want to! But Keep and eye on Politiken, iBYEN tomorow, I have heard some rumors, that I got front page:-) Hopefully its true!

A'lot of things happen when I went to Barcelona. I lost my great grandma which died after a longer period of sickness. I was sad about the news, but at the same time I was also relief to know, that she didn't feel pain anymore. With bad things comes good things, the day after her passing, I received these wonderful news, that two of my friends had given birth to a healthy little baby boy:-D

Noam was born on the 19th of may at 01:00 am in the morning! He came into our world with no complications and was just perfect. He was 54 cm long and weighted 3536 grams at the birth.
Bless you Noam, I am looking forward to see you grow up to be a real rascal! Congrats to my very good friends Jacob and Natascha, much luv!!

I just had to be the first one to buy him a pair of Vans skate shoes! Look at his face, you just know he is gonna be a real douche when he hits puberty!
